With the Hudson Valley event only weeks away, it is time to start learning about all the good causes you are supporting when you ride in Farm to Fork Fondo. Visit the Volunteers section of the Hudson Valley event page to read about the volunteer teams’ projects.
Each year, Wrenegade Foundation selects local organizations and community groups that are working to support farms and farmers, help people become active outdoors, and generally doing good work in their community. Selected organizations receive a grant to support a project of their choice and they participate in the Volunteer Competition at Farm to Fork Fondo. These volunteers help at check-in, stock aid stations, and welcome the cyclists back to the venue at the end of the ride. But a big part of what they do is cheer you on using their creative team spirit to make you smile and show you they serve the event host community.
Their success in the Volunteer Competition depends on your participation, too! Your job at Farm to Fork Fondo is to get to know these organizations when you stop at the aid stations so that you can choose your favorite project to support at the end of the ride.
Join the fun!
1. Buy a raffle ticket. The raffle will be open during registration the night before and the morning of the event. 100% of the raffle ticket proceeds benefit the Volunteer Competition cash prizes.
2. Talk to the volunteers. Each volunteer at the event represents a local farm or nonprofit. Say hello and ask some questions to learn about what they are doing for their community.
3. Vote at the end of the ride. Tear the Volunteer tab off your bracelet at the finish line and use it to vote for the volunteer team with the mission or project that you liked best.
