Farm to Fork Fondo – Pennsylvania Dutch, a unique farm-to-table bicycling event, will be returning to The Country Barn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania July 28-29, 2017.
The signature feature of the event is a series of aid stations on farms throughout Lancaster that serve chef-prepared food made from each farm’s ingredients. In 2016, the first edition of Farm to Fork Fondo – Pennsylvania Dutch sold out, drawing over 500 cyclists to Lancaster County. The event highlighted 8 local farms, donated $2,500 to local charitable organizations, and generated an estimated $316,621 in total economic impact for Lancaster County.
“The inaugural Farm to Fork Fondo in Lancaster County was a great success, and we’re thrilled for the event’s return in 2017,” said Discover Lancaster President Kathleen Frankford. “Its focus on farming, landscapes, and cycling is a perfect match with our destination, and we expect that both participants and partners will further enjoy the second edition next year.”
The Country Barn in Lancaster will host a gourmet “Meet the Farmers Dinner” on Saturday August 3, and serve as the start-finish venue on August 4. "Country Barn is excited to host the Pennsylvania Dutch Farm to Fork Fondo again in 2017,” said Jim Staufer, third generation farmer and owner of The Country Barn. “We pride ourselves in providing fresh food from our farm and authentic farm experiences, and Farm to Fork Fondo is a great way to experience the beautiful farmland of Lancaster County and learn about other farm families in our area who share our mission.”
Updated 2017 routes, menus, and local farm partners will be confirmed in coming months, and online registration will open in January, 2017.
